01. Choose the position first
Avoid direct sun, strong drafts, radiators, heavy vibration, and the busiest walkways. A stable surface and nearby power access make equipment safer and daily checks easier.
Leave ventilation clear and keep enough room around doors, lids, and service areas.
02. Create visual quiet
Repeat a small palette of natural tones rather than adding many competing colours. Use texture through wood, stone-like forms, planted cover, and a considered base.
Cable routes, timers, and control equipment should remain accessible but visually ordered.
03. Keep light predictable
Use timers to create a consistent day and night rhythm. Room lighting should not keep the enclosure bright after its planned day ends.
Decorative lighting must never replace the equipment required for the little soul's care.
04. Design for real routines
The most beautiful home is one that is easy to inspect, refill, clean, and maintain. Keep frequently used tools nearby and preserve a clear working area in front of the enclosure.
